2012 could be a great year for Notre Dame. But due to the difficulty of their schedule, it could also be a season faced with a lot of hardship.

With this extremely tough schedule, Notre Dame is playing some great teams. Here’s the 3 games I am looking forward to the most.

3. vs Nay (in Dublin, Ireland) – Sept. 1, 2012

How many times does a college football game go overseas? Not very often, at all. It’s very fitting that the Fighting Irish are playing in the capital of Ireland. I’m just excited to wake up in the morning to a cup of coffee, some pancakes, and Notre Dame football (since the gametime is 9am ET). This is also a game where Notre Dame can win easily, if they show up and play. Starting the season off 1-0 would be nice, instead of a 23-20 loss to USF like in 2011.

2. at Oklahoma – Oct. 27, 2012

I don’t know what to say. This game gets me fired up on all cylinders. Notre Dame against a Big 12 opponent, potentially the ESPN GameDay crew at the game, top 25 opponent- all are reason to be pumped for this game. This game is one I want Notre Dame to win very badly, mainly because it would show the world that Notre Dame is in fact, back in the college football world.

You all have heard the reports that Navy will join the Big East in football in 2015. As a Notre Dame fan I’m sure the first thing that popped up in your head was, “So what happens to the Notre Dame-Navy game held every year?”

To clearify, reports have been saying that it will not have any affect on the rivalry. The only thing that will change is that Notre Dame will be playing yet another Big East team. Also, Navy has said that they will continue their game with Air Force as well.

I think it is a good move for Navy to join a conference that is bowl eligible (at least for now). They have a unique team that even though they have struggled recently, they have put some good steps towards bringing the program back to national attention.

Notre Dame and Navy have been with each other for 83 years now. NBC Sports has reported that the Notre Dame and Navy series will continue at through 2026 anually. Nothing has changed, alternating locations each year like they have always done.

Here’s what Navy’s director of athletics had to say on the agreement:

“Continuing this traditional and classic rivalry for years to come has always been a priority for both schools. When we’ve looked at future football schedules for Notre Dame, Navy has always been one of the opponents immediately penciled in — and this ensures that will be the case for yet another 10 years to come.”

Navy and Notre Dame has been a good series in recent years, ever since Navy defeated Notre Dame for the first in over 40 years. This is a great choice by Notre Dame because we can never thank Navy enough for helping our school flourish when the depression in the 1930s strucj the school.

What this means for Notre Dame- Nothing shocking has happend by this decesion, Notre Dame vs Navy is something I expect to see every year, I’m glad both sides want to face off every year for a long time to come.
