Notre Dame and USC will go into the game this Saturday unranked. Despite all this, it can still one of the best games of the week.

LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma are the top three. Three teams from Notre Dame’s schedule are ranked. Stanford is number 7, Michigan State is ranked 16th, and Michigan is 17th.

Notre Dame isn’t getting the attention they should be getting, but a win against USC can make or break any hope they might have at a BCS game. It would also put us in the rankings with multiple quality wins. Something Notre Dam hasn’t had in a few years.

What do you thunk about Notre Dame not being ranked yet? Be sure to leave a comment and let us know.

Here it is ladies and gentlemen. The day we have been waiting months for, Notre Dame’s first gam,e of the year. And it starts out, with a very under-appriciated South Florida.

South Florida- Receiving votes from the USA Today Coaches Poll and ESPN’s Power Rankings, many people have the game on upset alert. They have a defense that has potential to be one of the top 25 in the country. Not only that, they are expected to be in the running for a Big East title this year.

Notre Dame- 16th in the country and re-amped for this year, look for Brian Kelly to really set the tone this year and come after South Florida. Notre Dame is favored to win, but they no this is a big first test and will have to be at their best to win.

Game time weather- Its going to be a great day for football with temperatures in the 80s at game time. Thunderstorms are possible so if you’re heading out there be prepared for rain. They are calling for 50% chance of precipitation.

I hope you guys enjoy the game as much as I will! GO IRISH!

Time of game: 3:30pm

Coach Brian Kelly has a said again and again that the emphasis is on defense. But his offensive style is just as important as well. He has a versatile spread offense that is very complicated. So this year, expect it to be more understood and better executed by the players, especially quarterback Dayne Crist.

Here’s what Brian Kelly said in a press conference Tuesday.

“I think it’s knowledge of what you’re capable of doing more so than having more plays available to you. Knowing that these are plays that Dayne has executed very well over the past year, we can go back and look at the successes that he’s had in reading out a particular play or getting us in the right play.” via Associated Press

Dayne Crist is a smart quarterback. But it takes time for him to adjust to a different offense then what he’s used to. He is learning the best he can and will display his knowledge on Saturday. I can;t wait to see how he fares against a very strong South Florida defense.

What do you think? Is Dayne Crist ready or has Brian Kelly failed to do his job as a coach? Leave a comment and let me know what you think!
