USC was striped of there 2004 national championship because of Reggie Bush receiving benefits from the school. The BCS decided they will just leave the 2004 championship blank, and not announce a new champion. USC also had to give back Reggie Bush’s Heisman trophy.

This was not really surprising anyone because of how hard the NCAA was cracking down on the Trojans. The new athletic director Pat Hadden agreed with the ruling of the stripping of the national championship of 2004.

USC is defiantly paying the price for all the cheating they were doing under the Pete Carroll era. Now we have to wait to see if the NCAA finds anything else USC was doing, and if so how harsh will the punishment be. If the NCAA comes out with more cheating that was going on at USC look for the punishments to be possibly as bad as the death penalty.

Zac Brooks out of Jonesboro, Arkansas has narrowed his decision on where he wants to go to college in 2012. The 4 teams that made his cut are Arkansas, Clemson, Auburn, and the Irish. He has already visited Auburn and Clemson. He will visit Notre Dame sometime this summer.

His coach said he is one of the most selfless players he has ever coached. All that matters to him is winning. Not only is this kid selfless he is so athletic he can play many positions, but his main position is wide receiver. His coach also mentioned that he puts the team on his back and takes them to victory.

As a junior last year Zac had 1385 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in 180 carries. As a receiver he had 70 catches and 900 yards. Brooks also said he wanted a quality education which Notre Dame can defiantly supply. Brooks is apparently a star on and off the field.

Brooks is obviously an amazing talent if he is looking to go to the defending national champs. The Irish must try really hard to get this kid considering they are against the national champs and his home state team. Let’s hope Kelly can work his magic and pick up this all star recruit.

Kelly lands another great recruit
Brian Kelly demonstrates his great recruiting skills again as he lands 4 star wide receiver Deontay Greenberry out of Washington Union High School in Fresno California. This high powered receiver committed to the Irish today.

Deontay decided to come to Notre Dame because of his cousin Tee Shepard who gave his verbal commitment to Notre Dame earlier this year. They both said they would like to continue playing football together, so after Tee committed it was very likely that Deontay was going to follow. They both will not officially sign until early February.

Deontay Had other offers from schools such as Alabama, UCLA, USC, Miami, and CAL. He seemed pretty confident that he will make an impact for the Irish when he said “I think I can pretty much come in and do what Michael Floyd did.” His reasoning for turning down the other schools was because of Tee and also that he liked the offence Kelly brought to ND. He also mentioned that he thinks Notre Dame can bring him a national championship ring.

After Kelly, mainly recruited defensive players he also did get some very explosive offensive players such as Deontay and not to mention the phenomenal freshman QB Everett Golson. Golson demonstrated his amazing abilities in the spring game this year.
Kelly is turning out to look like an amazing recruiter after he picked up some highly sought after recruits, but we will have to wait and see how the kids will turn out in games. Lets now, as fans just hope for the best, Goooooo Irish!!!
