Notre Dame finished their 9th practice on Wednesdy in intense fashion. The Irish’s practice included a very intense 3v3 drill (3 O linemen vs 3 D linemen). To see highlights of the drill, check out our hub.

The Irish were without linebacker Aaron Lynch, who wasn’t at practice due to personal issues. However, he’ll be back on campus on Monday.

I don’t want to o into detail on what happened as far as position changes, because I think Brian Kelly is seeing what might and might no work. Here’s the changes I noted.

Jamoris Slaughter spent the day at corner-back. Lo Wood was behind him the whole day.

Kona Schwenke was with the 1s at nose guard.

Jaylon Smith, a big linebacker recruit, was at the intense practice. Hopefully h like what he saw.

Not much information on the QB battle to report. But, here’s the press conference of Brian Kelly.

Earlier this morning, the Fighting Irish took the field for some light workouts without pads. Not too much was going on, but here’s some highlights of the day.

Dec 29, 2011; Orlando, FL, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Tommy Rees (11) in action against the Florida State Seminoles during the fourth quarter of the 2011 Champs Sports Bowl at the Citrus Bowl.

Tommy Rees took first team snaps at quarterback, as so did Andrew Hendrix. Sophomore Everett Golson took second team snaps. Freshmen Gunner Kiel was a bystander today.

Head Coach Brina Kelly was working with the quarterback for most of the practice.

The first-team receivers were Robby Toma, TJ Jones and fifth-year John Goodman.

Aaron Lynch and Stephon Tuitt surrounded nose guard Louis Nix on the defensive line during first team drills.

USC transfer Amir Carsile was on the sideline after breaking his ankle earlier this month. He is expected to return during summer workouts.

Not too much came out of today’s practice, but the most interesting thing I took out of it was Tommy Rees getting the majority of first team reps. It gives me the flashback of last season between Dayne Crist and Tommy Rees.

The Irish’s next practice isn’t until Friday at 8am ET.
