Notre Dame is around 3 months from boarding the airplane to head to Dublin, Ireland. So I’ve decided to let you know what I think will happen this year for the Irish. Here’s my 2012-2013 season predictions for Notre Dame as of right now.

Week One- vs Navy — win (31-14)

Sept. 3, 2011; South Bend, IN, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish wide receiver Michael Floyd (3) celebrates with tight end Tyler Eifert (80) after a touchdown against the South Florida Bulls in the third quarter at Notre Dame Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Matt Cashore-US PRESSWIRE

Week Two- vs Purdue — win (24-20)

Week Three- at Michigan State — win (26-20 OT)

Week Four- vs Michigan — loss (24-34)

Week Five- vs Miami — win (27-23)

Week Six- vs Stanford — win (24-14)

Week Seven- vs BYU — loss (20-28)

Week Eight- at Oklahoma — loss (13-27)

Week Nine- vs Pittsburgh — win (14-10)

Week Ten- at Boston College — win (38-24)

Week Eleven- vs Wake Forest — win (30-20)

Week Twelve- at USC — loss (24-42)

Overall record — 8 Wins and 4 losses

This record would be a huge success for Notre Dame. They easily have the toughest schedule in the entire country and with quarterback controversy, you never know what could happen (good or bad), I think this would be a giant step in the right direction for ND. Some of the games I predicted could go either way, but 8-4 is a record that is not only manageable, but very good based on the strength of schedule.

offensive and defense players to watch are on the next page

Rees, who will turn 20 next week, is charged with one count of battery, two counts of resisting law enforcement and one count of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

South Bend police say Rees kneed a police officer in the chest after he ran from the party early May 3 after officers arrived. Ckearly, the charges could have been a lot worse.

Rees, free on $250 bond, is going back to court on July 17.

Linebacker Carlo Calabrese did not appear Thursday. Assistant prosecutor Andrew White spoke saying sometimes defendants are allowed to have their attorneys appear in their place. He said he did not know why Calabrese didn’t appear, but they will move on from it.

Calabrese didn’t enter a plea, and will be back to court on June 17th.

For the complete review of the night Rees and Calabrese were arrested, click here.

Brian Hardin, Notre Dame’s director of football media relations, said football coach Brian Kelly has no comment on Thursday’s court appearance. Kelly said he would withhold judgment until he could collect all the facts.

Notre Dame linebacker, Carlo Calabrese, was charged with a misdemeanor of intimidation today. This is a result of his arrest on May 3rd.

Sept. 18, 2010; East Lansing, MI, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish linebacker Carlo Calabrese (44) during the game against the Michigan State Spartans at Spartan Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

Carlo Calabrese was with quarterback Tommy Rees at a house party in South Bend less than one mile off campus. Police arrived and arrested Rees and Cabrese after an altercation with both of them.

Just before Carlo became vocal to the police, Rees was trying to escape arrest, but he was eventually caught, prosecutors said.

Once Rees was taken away by police, prosecutors said, Calabrese told the policeman arresting Rees ”My people will get you.” Prosecutors said the policeman asked Calabrese if he was threatening him, to which Calabrese allegedly repeated “My people will get you.”

Calabrese will have a Thursday morning court appearance; however, only his lawyer is expected to appear.

Here is the statement Brian Kelly made shortly after the arrest.

“I am aware of last night’s incident involving two of our football players,” Kelly said. “I am of course very concerned given the nature of the allegations, but I am still gathering information. I’ll withhold judgment until I can collect all the facts and speak with both Carlo and Tommy.”-Brian Kelly

Carlo played in every game last season and recorded over 35 tackles last season (37 overall). Well see what Brian Kelly and School Officials do to discipline Calabrese (and also Rees).
