According to Rivals.com, Notre Dame currently has 22 commitments for the 2013 season. This includes one 5 star player, twelve 4 star players, and nine 3 star players. Currently Notre Dame is ranked 4th overall in recruiting for 2013. There haven’t been many commitments in a while and there shouldn’t be any more until after Christmas. A 2014 recruit Jimmy Byrne said he might commit to either Notre Dame or Ohio State before the New Year, but that isn’t for sure. The 2013 class for Notre Dame is a very good class, but if they can pick up a Greg Bryant or Max Redfield it could turn into one of the best classes in the past decade. What Notre Dame should be really thankful for is that defensive coordinator Bob Diaco didn’t get the head coaching job at Boston College. As far as I know there haven’t been any other offers he has pursued yet. Not only does he recruit good players, but he develops them, which is what the Irish had problems with in the past.
Max Redfield
The 5 star safety says that Notre Dame is still on top, but he is taking a visit to USC tomorrow according to rivals.com. This happened, because the Oregon Ducks dropped Redfield from their list, since many thought he was a lock to commit to Notre Dame. This hasn’t happened yet and it worries me a little bit that he is taking a visit to the school he was already committed to. If Redfield was to choose Notre Dame I think he would have a shot at starting next season and might even be a lock for playing time on special teams and as a backup.
L.J. Moore
Some of the Notre Dame coaching staff visited Moore the first week of the offseason and they said it looks like he is trending towards the west coast. Many sources have been saying this for months now, but UCLA looks like the frontrunner there is a chance that they might not be able to take Moore if he decides too late. The Bruins offered Patrick Enewally another defensive back. Cal and Oregon State are other west coast possibilities.
The Army All-American Bowl is starting to look like the point in time where Notre Dame will land some of its final recruits. A.Q. Muhammad still plans to announce his college choice on January 5th at the Army All-American Bowl. It should be very interesting what happens with Greg Bryant. It is reported that he is taking an official visit to Notre Dame today. We will find out what Bryant thinks of Notre Dame this weekend or next week sometime. This is make or break time for the Irish, with all the in home visits and last minute official visits before February will be very important. With two possibly three spots left for commitments I think the Irish will take the best of the best, if they can get them.
