Notre Dame Averages 30 Points Per Game This Season

The Fighting Irish averaged 29.2 points per contest in 2011. That total was the most that Notre Dame scored under Brian Kelly. This fact perplexes fans because Kelly averaged 38.6 points per game in his final year at Cincinnati.

This is Notre Dame’s most talented team on Offense. Notre Dame returns a Quarterback who went undefeated in the regular season (if Golson is named the starter). The Irish have a talented trio of Running Backs, more than the Irish have had at any point. The receiving corps is young but talented. DaVaris Daniels can make up for the lack of talent if he is focused. The Offensive Line will feature four Linemen who have a lot of playing experience.

The combination of talent and depth will help the Irish score over 30 points. The real question will be can Notre Dame score against the major teams on the schedule. Offensive Season Projections: 32.9 points per game.

Update: Notre Dame’s Offense underachieved but yet achieved. The Irish score over 27 or more points in every game except for the Stanford and USC game. Notre Dame finished the season by scoring 31 points against the 3rd best Defense in the country. Notre Dame’s offense finished with 32.8 points per game, only 1 tenth off the preseason prediction. Result: Correct
