Bishop Gorman standout Alize Jones inked his letter of intent, officially making him a member of the Notre Dame football team. Jones originally committed to UCLA in November 2013. However, after much consideration, he flipped his commitment to the Irish on January 15, 2015.
Jones received offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, Colorado, Georgia, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Tennessee, UCLA, USC and Utah.
The Blue Chip recruit hails from Las Vegas, Nevada and plays for high school powerhouse Bishop Gorman. As a Junior, Alize Jones caught 35 passes for 571 yards with 10 touchdowns. As a Senior, he collected 41 receptions for 930 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Jones will have an excellent opportunity to play early. With the graduation of Ben Koyack, the Irish do not have a dominant Tight End. While Durham Smythe and Tyler Luatua played, they did not solidify themselves as starters.
Alize Jones participated in the US Army All-American Bowl.

Scouting Report from Nick Combs:
Tight end U strikes again and lands a late switch from UCLA to Notre Dame. At 6’5’’ 220 pounds this tight end is a physical specimen and will have a great impact for the Notre Dame offense. He is rated the best tight end in the country. Jones will need to gain strength in his blocking to be an all-around tight end. His good hands, wide catch radius, and the ability to catch the ball away from his body are skills that will make this prospect excel early in the Notre Dame offense. It is unknown when this athlete will see the field, because of the good talent if front of him. We all know Coach Kelly will play the best player, so we will see how Jones competes with the other tight ends already in the program.
