Elijah Taylor signed his letter of intent to play football at Notre Dame today. Taylor choose the Irish on June 13, 2014. He selected Notre Dame over Ohio State.
Taylor held offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Ohio, Ohio State, Tennessee, West Virginia and Western Kentucky.
The 6’3″ 285 lbs. Defensive Tackle played for Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2014, Taylor collected 88 tackles, 15 TFLs and 12 sacks.
Elijah Taylor will need time to develop in the weight room before contributing on the field. Notre Dame played several Defensive Linemen last year due to injury. A side effect of this is that the Irish will have excellent depth at each position along the Defensive Linemen. This is another reason why Taylor will redshirt in 2015.

Scouting Report from Nick Combs:
At 6’3’’ 275 pounds the 3 star defensive tackle from Cincinnati, Ohio has shown flashes of being a very good football player. His techniques need a lot of work and fine tuning at the next level. Taylor got away with using his size and athleticism and little technique during high school. He tends to play too high and doesn’t fire off the ball consistently. Taylor’s relentless pursuit of the football and playing flat to the line of scrimmage are the strengths of his game. He has the size, but needs to put on some good weight and get stronger.
