Josh Barajas signed his letter of intent with Notre Dame. He is now officially a member of the Notre Dame football team. Barajas originally committed to Penn State before flipping his commitment to the Irish in late May.
Josh Barajas received offers from Boston College, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, N.C. State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
The 6’3″ 215 lbs. Linebacker hails from Merrillville, Indiana and played for Andrean High School. As a Junior, Barajas collected 92 tackles, 5 sacks and 2 interceptions. This past season, he tallied 92 tackles, 8 sacks and 1 interceptions.
Barajas may find his way into the two-deep at Linebacker early on, especially if Joe Schmidt and Jarrett Grace are unable to overcome their injuries. Even if Barajas does not play at Linebacker his Freshman year, he is a good candidate to be a special teams player.
Josh Barajas played in U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Scouting Report from Nick Combs:
The 6’3’’ 210 pound linebacker from Indiana is one of the best players from his state. He was committed to Penn State last spring, but then flipped to Notre Dame. Barajas tackling is his best attribute in my opinion. He plays with low pad level, keeps his shoulders square, drives through the ball carrier, and wraps up. The 4 star linebacker is an above average pass rusher, but also has the ability to open his hips and drop into coverage. Barajas looks to be a key contributor in the next few years. I don’t see him making an impact on the defensive side of the ball until his sophomore year at the earliest.
