Grant will need to have a complete game against Kentucky

It hasn’t been often this season that Jerian Grant has had on “off” game. But even when he has, he’s been a catalyst in one way or another to help his team. In Thursday’s win against Wichita State, Grant looked to involve his teammates early, finishing the game with 11 assists, while scoring only nine points on 3-of-8 shooting.

The good thing is there isn’t much to read into his low point total. Grant knows what the team needs at any given time. If they need him to score, he becomes more aggressive. He’s a rare player that has an understanding of the game and what’s needed. That being said, he is going to need a complete game for the Irish to pull this off.

Being undersized, the Irish will need to do their best to secure any loose balls and long rebounds. The size will be an issue on the glass, but the Irish offense can space them out and negate that advantage. But once the ball comes off the rim, the Wildcats will have the upper-hand. Grant needs to get to the rim, draw fouls and force Kentucky to have to play it safe.
