On Friday, Notre Dame landed their second recruit in the 2017 class, an elite Tight End from Cypress, Texas. The Cy-Fair High School product Brock Wright recently visited Notre Dame for the “Irish Invasion”.
Brock Wright is widely considered as the best Tight End in the country. 247Sports ranks him as top Tight End and 57th best prospect overall. He checks in at 6’5″ and 243lbs.
The 4-star prospect held offers from Alabama, Baylor, Boston College, Duke, Georgia, Houston, LSU, Miami (FL), Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Rice, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulsa and UCLA.
In 2014, Brock Wright collected 17 receptions for 369 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Brock Wright joins Dillan Gibbons, an Offensive Tackle, from Northside Christian School in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Notre Dame hopes to add top 2017 Quarterback recruit Hunter Johnson to the commitment list. Johnson ranks as the 9th overall recruit in the 2017 class. Both Wright and Johnson visited for the “Irish Invasion”.
The “Irish Invasion” is paying dividends immediately. Notre Dame has received commitments from ATH Jalen Elliot, WR Kevin Stepherson, LB Jamir Jones and TE Brock Wright in the past week.
Brock Wright passes the eye test. He compares favorably to former Notre Dame John Carlson. Regardless of comparison, Wright continues the trend also known as “Tight End U”. Since 2004, Notre Dame has possessed an NFL ready Tight End. Those Tight Ends included Anthony Fasano, John Carlson, Kyle Rudolph, Tyler Eifert and Ben Koyack.
The current Irish roster features four Tight Ends who have NFL potential. Incoming Freshman Alize Jones ranked as the #1 Tight End according to the 247Sports composite.
