Walter Camp Player of the Year Award – Malik Zaire, Will Fuller

This combo is going to have to establish their chemistry early for either player to stay in contention for this award throughout the season. They definitely have a chance to contend for player of the year as long as Zaire improves mechanically as a passer and Fuller can find a way to replicate or better his outstanding sophomore year. Again, there are several players on this list that probably have a better chance of taking home the award, but being on the list alone is a sign of respect to the capabilities of both of these players.

As more players get placed on the preseason award watch lists, the more Notre Dame fans’ expectations for this season rise. These accolades will all be for nothing if the Irish can’t finish this season with a high profile bowl game or contend for a spot in the College Football Playoffs.
