The 2015 Notre Dame Football team continued their journey to the College Football Playoff with more practices at the Culver Academies

The Fighting Irish continued fall camp with more practices at the Culver Academies. Although no media members viewed practice, several videos of practice and interviews were uploaded to YouTube, giving Irish fans a glimpse behind the curtain. Here are the videos accompanied by commentary from Slap the Sign.

  • Corey Robinson made an excellent back shoulder catch against Junior Defensive Back Devin Butler. This may be a top play from the prospective of Fighting Irish Digital Media (FIDM). However, it is not because Corey Robinson has made this catch into a routine play.
  • Chris Brown showed excellent burst. This is impressive because Junior Cole Luke was covering him and not a 4th team walk-on.
  • Drue Tranquill makes a pass break up in the third clip. However, this is likely a pass interference call because Tranquill has his right hand on Tight End Nic Wieshar before the ball reached the 2nd year Tight End.

  • Junior Torii Hunter Jr. made a great shoestring grab. Fans should expect Hunter Jr. to make several plays from the slot position this year.
  • Senior KeiVarae Russell made a great break-up. It will be exciting to see what kind of player Russell. Is Russell a Richard Sherman or Darrell Revis type player?
  • Senior Chris Brown makes another excellent catch. This is his second highlight with a catch over Luke. Brown was the top receiver at this time last year. Can he finally break through and make the impact he is capable of.

FB – Top Plays Day 4 1 v. 1 Drill

  • Freshman Slot Receiver CJ Sanders clearly shows his ability to separate from the defender in the first clip. However, he does  not look big enough to consistently go across the middle.
  • Clip 3 shows an excellent battle between Junior Wide Receiver Will Fuller and Cornerback Cole Luke. Most likely, in a game situation, the Quarterback would not even throw the ball in Fuller’s direction.

Most of what these videos show is Defensive Backs versus Wide Receiver and Tight End. Overall, the videos show to strong groups competing against each other. It is amazing how deep both groups are.
