Jarrett Grace – Sr. – Linebacker

Jarrett Grace was poised to replace Heisman runner-up Manti Te’o in 2013. Grace tallied 40 tackles in 6 games before severely breaking his leg against Arizona State in AT&T Stadium.

Grace sat out the entire 2014 season while he recovered from his broken leg. Several surgeries and metal rods later, he is prepared to make his return to the field. Grace has not played since October 5, 2013.

His story is extremely inspirational. Several media members believe that Grace would never play football again and would instead take a medical scholarship to complete his coursework at Notre Dame. But, Grace proved everyone wrong.

Grace would be captain in 2015 because he is an individual who everyone, not just Notre Dame football players, should look up to. However, Grace still faces an uphill battle. Grace may only be the 3rd team Middle Linebacker this season. It would be difficult for him to lead the Defense from the sideline.

Prediction: Although all 10 players are excellent candidates, the Fighting Irish will be represented by 5th-year Senior Offensive Linemen Nick Martin, Senior Defensive Linemen Sheldon Day, Junior Quarterback Malik Zaire and 5th-year Senior Linebacker Joe Schmidt.
