Ronnie Stanley – Sr. – Offensive Linemen – Notre Dame Football
Ronnie Stanley passed up on a possible first-round selection to return to Notre Dame for his Senior year and a possibly of playing for the National Title. He definitely has a ton of credibility by giving up millions of dollars in exchange for grinding with his teammates for another year.
So far, Stanley has shown an ability to lead. During practice, he has chewed out fellow players who were not meeting the expectations of the Offensive Line. His voice can be heard along with Nick Martin and Offensive Line Coach Harry Hiestand.
One thing that is important for a captain candidate is that he is one of the best players on the team. Being a captain is not only about motivating teammates but providing a great example of how to become great. Stanley may be the best player on Notre Dame’s roster, especially as NFL talent is concerned.
The possible captaincy of Nick Martin may actually hurt Stanley’s chances to be a captain in 2015. With so many leaders on Notre Dame’s team, Kelly may choose to spread out the captains evenly. During his time at Notre Dame, Notre Dame has not had a captains from the same position group.
