Receiving Corp: A-
Six different receivers caught passes from Zaire, which shows how well they were able to separate themselves from defenders in a man-defense and find the holes against the zone. Will Fuller, who was on the preseason watch-list for the Biletnikoff award had his fourth multi-touchdown game and his fifth 100-yards receiving performance. He was able to capitalize on the loose defense played by Texas’s secondary and score on two plays of at least 15 yards. His first score was a 16-yard reception on a post route over the middle of the field, and his second score came on a broken coverage the freed him up for a 66-yard bomb from Zaire.
The only knock I have against the receivers is the lack of play making from the tight ends. Both Alize Jones and Tyler Luatua had dropped passes, and starter Durham Smythe only came away with one catch. If Notre Dame can get the tight ends more involved from here on out, this receiving corp can truly become one of the most dangerous groups in the country.
