4. Squally Canada, BYU RB

Biographical Information: Freshman running back from Milpitas, California. Originally signed with Washington State, where he redshirted due to injury before transferring to BYU. Was a 4-star recruit and the 32nd-ranked running back nationally according to ESPN.com. Son of Stacy and Byron.

Fun Fact from Official Team Bio: “Pre-communications major,” meaning he is studying everything that leads up to people communicating, I guess (breathing, blinking, walking, general use of eyesight, etc.)

Why I love the name: This former 4-star recruit calls Milpitas, California his hometown and now plays football in Provo, Utah. However, his parents are huge fans of the weather patterns in that country to the north, and decided that, if they couldn’t spend their time trudging through sudden, violent snowstorms in the 2nd-largest country in the world, then their son’s name was going to at least remind them of one of their greatest passions. Squally is very proud of his namesake, and hopes to one day experience it with his parents.
