Slap the Sign caught up with Rubbing the Rock for a Q&A session about today’s game between the Clemson Tigers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Here are the answers from Editor Andrew Boardwine, editor of Rubbing the Rock:

What are some strengths/weaknesses you see for both teams in this match up?

I think Notre Dame has strengths on both sides of the ball. I love what C.J. Prosise brings to the table running the ball and Will Fuller is one of the top receivers in the country. The Fighting Irish also have an extremely talented offensive line. Clemson’s strengths are the passing game, which I think the Notre Dame secondary could be a weakness. The Fighting Irish also should have an advantage against the Clemson offensive line, which is a weakness for the Tigers.

What are your thoughts on Notre Dame coming to Clemson, SC?

It should be fun. I hope Notre Dame fans are welcomed and shown hospitality while they are there. This should be a fun match up. Unfortunately, the rain will drive some fans away, but there still should be a great atmosphere coming into Death Valley Saturday night. Notre Dame hasn’t been to Clemson in over 30 years, so I’d imagine this is many Fighting Irish fan’s first time coming to Clemson. You won’t want to miss the Tiger Band play before the game and take part in the festivities that will be going on all day.

Who are some guys that we may not know about but will make a difference in the game Saturday night?

Keep an eye on Mackenzie Alexander, Ben Boulware, and Shaq Lawson on the defense. Obviously, Deshaun Watson, Wayne Gallman, and Artavis Scott on the offense. Some guys you may not be familiar with, but will have an impact may be one of the 28 freshmen the Tigers will play. Names like Ray-Ray McCloud, Deon Cain, and Mitch Hyatt on the offense and Christian Wilkins on the defense.

I look for either Deon Cain or Ray Ray McCloud to have a big night. They are both two talented wide receivers with big-time play ability. I think Clemson has intentionally not shown much of what they can do in preparation for this game.

What is your prediction for the game?

I think Clemson wins the game 28-24. The rain will have a huge impact on the game and this will probably turn into a slugfest. Overall, I just think the home field advantage and talented Clemson offense make a difference at the end.
