Notre Dame #4: Fighting Irish Fans Are Dancing
The excitement is building for Fighting Irish fans and alumni as the second College Football Playoff Rankings were released, and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame are sitting at NUMBER 4.
The Irish are in- as of now. After 9 games and an 8-1 record with the lone loss coming at the hands of the number one ranked Clemson Tigers in a hurricane… Notre Dame has, according to Jeff Long the chairman of the college football playoff committee, solidified theirselves in the number four slot.
It’s really quite amazing if you think about it for a minute. Most of the reasons given have been because of Notre Dame’s strength of schedule and their 2 wins over top 25 teams. Those two wins came against #20 Navy and #22 Temple.
NAVY AND TEMPLE?!
Yep. Navy and Temple. Not Georgia Tech or Texas or even USC. The two wins helping Notre Dame the most right now are the two wins against American Conference teams.
Somewhere over by a Grace Hall, a student is slow-clapping for Notre Dame Athletic Director, Jack Swarbrick. For, without Swarbrick’s maneuvers throughout conference realignment, maybe some of this doesn’t look so pretty.
But for right now, none of that seems to matter- or at least most of us aren’t even thinking about it. That’s okay. We have a lot to think about as it is. Senior Day, Fenway, and Cali-for-ni-a stand in the way of Notre Dame and complete ownership of that playoff spot. As for the other 3 teams, the Irish have scores to settle with all three of them, and if things keep working out right, they may have the opportunity to do just that.
At some point, this is probably going to get a little more wild, but until that ridiculous Tuesday comes around… WE DANCE!
