Top 30 Notre Dame Football Players Ever
#18 Leon Hart
Leon Hart was one of the last great two way players in football. Hart was a 4 year starter and never lost a game as the Irish went 36-0-2 in his time there. Hart was a consensus All-American in 1948 and 1949. Hart was a phenomenal blocker and excellent pass rusher on defense. He won the Maxwell Award in 1949.
Hart went on to win the Heisman in his senior year, and was one of only two linemen to ever win the award. He is also one of only 3 players to win a national championship, the Heisman, and become the first pick in the NFL Draft within the same year.
