The Rocket really did do it all with the ball for the Fighting Irish. More importantly, he was the most fear player in college football, and entire gameplans most weeks against Notre Dame revolved around stopping the Rocket. Well, everyone but Bo Schembechler, as his Wolverines kicked ti to Ismail twice and twice they saw him return them for touchdowns. He won a national title with the Irish as a freshman starter in 1988. In 1990, he was a consensus All-American, the Walter Camp Award winner, and he came in 2nd for the Heisman to Ty Detmer (which was criminal).
