11.8 points, four boards and two blocks per game isn’t much to write home about for a true freshman who was as highly-touted as 6’ 11” Skal Labissiere. There strength issues are there, as Labissiere has struggled to establish himself and the post, which makes his post offense a work in progress. It’s very early for the freshman, however, and he certainly has the upside. With a bit of added strength and Kentucky coach John Calipari’s tutelage, Labissiere should be able to build on a true shooting percentage of 64 percent.

Whether or not Labissiere has a major impact on Big Blue Nation’s beloved Wildcats remains to be seen, but if he wants to, he’d better shape up quickly. With his upside, he can certainly become one of the better players on a team that has an opportunity to notch a big win against rival Louisville and an SEC schedule that usually means Kentucky will be racking up wins. The verdict is still out on Labissiere and Kentucky as a whole, but they have every opportunity in front of them to be just as successful as the past few Kentucky teams. Look for Labissiere, Ulis and company to be in the usual Kentucky position of being able to make a ton of noise in the NCAA tournament. What else do you expect from Coach Cal and the Wildcats?
