Quick Facts: Martinas “Marty” Geben is a 6’10” sophomore forward from Lithuania. Geben doesn’t play much, but when he does, I always yell something encouraging at the TV for the big man, because he’s just a big, likable, goofy guy.

Martinas Geben’s Twitter presence was a pleasant surprise for me. I didn’t know what to expect considering he is originally from Lithuania, and wasn’t sure if he would be very interesting on Twitter. I was proven wrong almost immediately by his great advice on traveling:

As I delved further into the intricacies of Geben, I discovered that he has officially given himself the best nickname I could possibly imagine for a big Lithuanian basketball player, The Bird Whisperer:

Everyone who follows Notre Dame basketball now needs to immediately begin applying this nickname to this guy, and I imagine that will ultimately give him the confidence and boost he needs to begin earning more playing time. And we can all agree, I think, that the Bird Whisperer getting more PT would be ideal for everyone involved.
