Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Awaiting Caleb Kelly Decision
Will Notre Dame land the five star linebacker from Fresno California?
With less than two weeks to go until National Signing Day on Wednesday February 3, we take a look at the prospects left on Notre Dame’s recruiting board and which prospects might be on their way to Notre Dame.
Caleb Kelly
Caleb Kelly is a hot commodity right now. The Clovis West star is the High School Butkus winner for being the nation’s top linebacker and both Notre Dame and Oklahoma are pulling out all the stops to gain this blue-chip player’s signature on signing day.
Oregon is another school that is in the mix for Kelly, but despite his excitement to meet the new Oregon defensive coordinator, Brady Hoke, most insiders have Oregon running a distant third to Notre Dame and Oklahoma. It would come as an absolute shock if Kelly ended up somewhere other than Norman or South Bend.
Hotness
The big buzz on the message boards and across social media, is that Caleb Kelly will end up picking Notre Dame on National Signing Day (and that his mind is already made up to do just that). This is a lot different news than what was being said just a week ago when it was being reported that Caleb Kelly would most likely pick the Sooners.
Best Guess
While I am now extremely optimistic that Caleb Kelly will pick the Irish on signing day, we can’t forget that this is a recruit from Fresno. Fresno recruits are to Notre Dame what the Roadrunner is to Wile E Coyote. There comes a point when we are just waiting for our own ACME rockets to backfire and hit our ass. Still, people in the know have described Kelly’s personality as a lot different than that of kids like Greenberry, Vanderdoes, Swift, and others.
At any rate, I expect Kelly to sign with Notre Dame on signing day and possibly become the next dual Butkus winner for the Irish.
