Notre Dame Football: The 2016 Defensive Recruiting Class
Meet the incoming Notre Dame football class via their projected position groups.
Notre Dame did well on National Signing Day. Say it with me again… NOTRE DAME DID WELL ON NATIONAL SIGNING DAY. A lot of people want to discount this class a bit since the Irish didn’t have a splashy and fancy day of five star recruits announcing for Notre Dame on television. It wasn’t that type of day for Notre Dame- as it rarely ever is.
In fact, it was a quiet albeit smooth and successful day all around for Notre Dame and its new recruiting machine. The Irish did gain a commitment and then letter of intent from a four star linebacker named Jonathon Jones, so really- Irish fans should be overjoyed. However, it was the announcements of Ben Davis, Jeff McCulloch, and eventually Caleb Kelly to other schools that seemed to put a gray cloud above what was described as a “celebration” by Brian Kelly.
Still, the class is not done yet, as Demetris Robertson (five star wide receiver) still will make a decision sometime this month, and according to a lot of people that choice will eventually be Notre Dame.
Without Robertson, Notre Dame still finished in at least the top 16 with the 4 major recruiting services.
