#8 New York

  • 4 Players
  • Average Star Ranking: 3.5
  • Biggest Loss: None
  • Top Newcomer: Jamir Jones LB

When you think about college football recruiting, rarely does the state of New York ever come up. So, to see New York listed in the top 8 for Notre Dame, it kind of makes you raise an eyebrow. New York is listed but states like North Carolina and Georgia aren’t? Yeah, that’s the strange truth here. Of the 4 players from New York on Notre Dame’s roster, Jarron Jones stands out as a star along the defensive line. Jay Hayes and Pete Mokwah were in the same class, and they, like Jarron Jones, play defensive tackle. So there is a bit of a theme here with defense as Jarron’s younger brother Jamir is this year’s commit.

New York has been in the thick of this 8 for the past several years, but it’s hard too honestly imagine it sticking around with Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, and even Nevada lurking.
