Was there any real doubt that Florida would be number 1? Well, last year they were #4 while Indiana ranked #1. However, the Sunshine State has held the top position 5 times since 2007 and 3 times they were at #2. The state has talent in just about every nook and cranny one might look. It’ embarrassing how much high school talent resides in Florida. Notre Dame doesn’t just have to battle the Big 3 of Florida State, Florida, and Miami for these kids… they literally have to fight the entire country.

Connections and pipeline schools are key here, and Autry Denson has done a marvelous job after Tony Alford laid some of the groundwork. The Irish landed 7 kids in this cycle, which by themselves would have ranked them at number 4 in these rankings. Still… is it enough? Is Notre Dame doing enough to land the elite kids from Florida? Only time will tell as Denson makes serious headway down there. Until then, Florida still reigns as the king.
