Notre Dame and Oklahoma swap icons that the other claims is rightfully theirs.

This is a BIG one. According to Her Loyal Sons, a little known and somewhat entertaining Notre Dame blog that has been slowly in decline ever since the retirement of founder domer.mq, Notre Dame and Oklahoma are going to complete a trade as big as the one that sent Babe Ruth to the Yankees, and was announced earlier this morning in a joint statement by Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick, and Oklahoma President David Boren. There was also one other person involved in this statement… Laurie Wenger.

That’s right… Notre Dame FINALLY gets its man in Bob Stoops- but is the price too high to pay? Notre Dame has to cede ALL rights to its Play Like A Champion Today sign and take down the sign as well as anything resembling the sign from its campus.

Is Bob Stoops worth it? Sure, Stoops was the HOTTY HOT HOT TOTTY TOT HOT name in every Notre Dame coaching search since the firing of Ty Willingham, but let’s face it… he has just ONE title to his name and this smells more like South Carolina getting Lou Holtz and THAT Lou Holtz package more than the Lou Holtz that Notre Dame got when it got Lou Holtz.

And in trade, we must forever say goodbye to what is now an icon so grand, most people think it has something to do with Knute Rockne and Roanld Reagan more than the actual culprit in… wait for it… LOU HOLTZ. Culprit indeed as it was Lou Holtz that commissioned Laurie Wenger to create the sign of legend that is pretty much the exact same thing as what Oklahoma has had since before World War 2.

There have also been unconfirmed reports that the Notre Dame quarterback battle has already been decided by Stoops and at his press conference later today, he is expected to name Montgomery VanGorder as his starting quarterback right after firing Brian VanGorder.

No comment has been made from the Brian Kelly camp as of press time, but there are other unconfirmed reports that Bill Belichick will announce his retirement early next week with Brian Kelly as the leading candidate.

Stay tuned for more here at Slap The Sign and never read Her Loyal Sons again- BTW… Happy April Fools Day.
