We’re Number One Moses

Obviously it’s a sin to go to Notre Dame and not witness Touchdown Jesus, but have you seen the Irish’s other biblical monument? Just on the edge of Hesburgh Library is a massive statue of Moses, not just any Moses, this is We’re Number One Moses.

The statue depicts Moses standing as Mt. Sinai chastising the Israelites who committed idolatry. He is holding the Ten Commandments in his left hand while his right hand is extended toward God. This of course looks like Moses is holding up a finger to say “we’re number one”.

There is a little confusion around campus as to what the name truly is for Moses. Most know him as We’re Number One Moses, which a student declared in The Observer, but others know him as First Down Moses. Whatever you want to call him, Moses is something you have to see for yourself.
