Moose Krause

If there is one legend not told enough- especially to the young and new Notre Dame fans, it’s that of “Mr. Notre Dame” Moose Krause. Moose was Notre Dame’s athletic director from 1949 until 1981, and he still held an office at Notre Dame until his death in 1992. Moose played for Knute Rockne and coached for Frank Leahy. He lettered in Football, basketball, baseball, and track while at Notre Dame.

Moose was THE athlete at Notre Dame, and basically an ancient day Bo Jackson. He eventually landed in both the college football and college basketball Hall of Fames.

So, what photo could be better than one of you sliding up next to a cigar-smoking Moose sitting on a bench. He was a gentle giant, and an enormous part of what Notre Dame is all about and what the school and the football program has become.
