What Notre Dame football jersey numbers are the most commonly worn by All-Americans?

Football jersey numbers are a sacred thing at places like Notre Dame. In fact, one could make the case that at Notre Dame, the football jersey numbers are even MORE sacred than at other schools because Notre Dame doesn’t “retire” or make special tributes to the numbers of legends.

How would that work exactly? Notre Dame has seven Heisman Trophy winners and all have a different number. And what about Irish legends such as Moose Krause or Michael Stonebreaker? There are 9 numbers associated with those players. That starts dwindling the numbers of the numbers down and then we start getting into permissin from families- and that’s all too Michigan for me.

No, I like the way Notre Dame handles it right now.

What’s interesting is what number has produced the most 1st and 2nd team All-Americans. Can you guess it? Take a moment to think and then see if you’re right.
