I hate to say it, but the 2016 Notre Dame Football Shamrock Series uniforms will be the worst ones yet.

Since they started wearing special uniforms for the Shamrock Series in 2012, Notre Dame has gone through every one of their colors except one. They’ve had a blue and gold combination, an all white uniform, an all blue uniform and last season they had an all green uniform. This leaves just one color left and that is an all gold uniform, which I think will look absolutely terrible.

There is just something about monochromatic uniforms that aren’t too pleasing to the eye. The all white uniforms of the 2013 Shamrock Series were decent, but the all blue and all green of the last two seasons were pretty bad.

Since Notre Dame started wearing special uniforms for the Shamrock Series in 2012 there have only been a handful of them that were good. If I had to pick a set of Shamrock Series unis that I liked I would go with 2012 unis. I’d pick those because outside of the helmet they most resembled what a Notre Dame football uniform should look like, blue shirts and gold pants.

Personally, I am not a fan of the Shamrock Series uniforms because Notre Dame already has a great set a uniforms. I understand why they do it. They do it for recruiting purposes. For whatever reason the younger generation loves ugly uniforms, but I am a traditionalist.

As is, Notre Dame has one of the best uniforms in college football and there is no good reason to mess with them. This might be the last season for the Shamrock Series, so hopefully this will also be the last season they mess with the Notre Dame uniform.

This is actually one of the few predictions I hope I am wrong about because I really don’t want Notre Dame to look ridiculous when they run out on to the field in San Antonio on November 12th.
