Nevada poses an imminent threat.

It sounds crazy, but hear me out for just a second. This isn’t because Nevada is a bowl-winning team (against another member of its own conference) or that Penn State running back Akeel Lynch transferred to Nevada as a fifth year graduate transfer. No, it’s because of logistics.

Notre Dame plays Texas in Austin on a Sunday, and most likely it will be a night game. This shortens both the recovery time and preparation time greatly, and in the beginning of a season, it takes a few weeks to get everything clicking.

If you need proof, just look at the 2012 Purdue game after the Irish played Navy in Ireland to start the season. These things matter, and the aftermath can be a sloppy game that may be far closer than anyone would ever dream.
