A Hurricane is landing in Notre Dame Stadium for the first time since 1990.

For the game that may get the most undue hype before the season begins… it might be this one. There will be a ton of talk about “Catholics VS Convicts” and saving someone’s ass for Lou Holtz to take home- or some crap like that.

It will literally be a retro eighties type week for Notre Dame fans. Count me as one of the few that feels like vomiting.

This is 2016 y’all! And just in case any of you forgot… Notre Dame played Miami in 2010 and 2012- perhaps it wasn’t in South Bend, but they played none the less. I’m not feeling the whole RIVALRY RENEWED thing.

It just doesn’t feel that way.

What I am thinking about is Miami has finally got themselves a competent coach in Mark Richt, and he seems poised and eager to unleash the weapons at his disposal. The Canes could even be 6-1 by the time they play Notre Dame- or even 7-0 if they manage to beat Florida State in Miami.

The scarier part is that the Miami Hurricanes have something that basically no other Notre Dame opponent has at their disposal… a quality quarterback starting for them.

Brad Kaaya is not the second coming of Gino Torretta, but he is a very good quarterback and that makes Miami dangerous- especially with a coach like Mark Richt guiding him along the way.

No, I will not be skipping down memory lane with dreams in one hand and rainbow colored hype in the other hand before this game against Miami. This is far too serious for that or any nostalgic crap. WE GOT A SEASON TO WIN HERE PEOPLE.

Slap The Sign will have more on the North Carolina State game and the rest of the schedule in our Schedule preview in June.
