Orlando Magic – No.11 Pick

Notre Dame. Demetrius Jackson. 11. player. 38. . Guard

It was just two years that the Magic got first round pick Elfrid Payton on draft night from the Philadelphia 76ers, and so far has yet to make much of an impact. The Magic also have Shabazz Napier, but quite frankly he’s not the answer to the Magic’s point guard. Jackson has the most upside of all three.

Orlando already has a couple of young players to build around in Victor Oladipo, Aaron Gordon and Mario Hezonja. Adding Jackson to that group would give the Magic a strong core for the future. The Magic also just hired head coach Frank Vogel from the Indiana Pacers, and he’s considered one of the better coaches in the NBA. Having a young core of Oladipo, Gordon, Hezonja and potentially Jackson playing under a coach like Vogel could spell a promising future for the Magic.

A lot of mock drafts I have looked at have the Magic taking Skal Labissiere from Kentucky. Labissiere might have much more upside than Jackson, but is more of a project than Jackson. Jackson is more of a seasoned product and would have a much better chance of making an instant impact for the Magic.
