As far as the hierarchy of the Notre Dame highlight video class goes, there is only one.

I’ve pimped this video out more times than pretty much anything that I have ever done myself. Why? Because it’s incredible- duh.

Back in December of 2012, the world was an oyster for Notre Dame fans (am I phrasing that right?). The Irish were ranked #1 in the country and they were on their way to Miami to play Alabama for the national championship.

It was a celebration. The season was one incredibly interesting and intense game after another, and if you looked at each game as a chapter- it might as well been the greatest novel ever written.

The thing about novels though, is that the best ones get turned into movies- and generally (hopefully) those magical movie makers hire people like Hans Zimmer to create an audio masterpiece to help tell the story. These scores aren’t just filler for your ears, they help set the mood, and create emotional changes.

It’s why I go from tears to laughter to rage in about 5.7 seconds.

And that brings me to what we have here today. Shawn Myers (call me bro) created an absolute masterpiece to tell the tale of the 2012 regular season- one of the GREATEST REGULAR SEASONS IN NOTRE DAME HISTORY.

Using musical scores from some of the more epic movies to come out of Hollywood, Myers puts you in that moment again to relive something that was so incredible. It’s actually more powerful now than it was in December of 2012. Don’t believe me? I dare you.

Put on your headphones or ear buds or crank up your very expensive and loud home stereo and play this video. Pay attention to your emotions. DON’T BE SCARED! let the emotion flow through you. If you’re not ready to burst into tears while laying waste to a wall with a fantastic karate chop- you’re not human and probably not a fan of the Fighting Irish.

While others have created many a wonderful Notre Dame highlight video in their day, this one is by far the greatest ever made.
