1. Right Guard

After spring practice it seems that the Irish are set at four of the five offensive line positions. Notre Dame should have one of the best left sides with Mike McGlinchey at left tackle and Quenton Nelson at left guard. Sam Mustipher separated himself from Tristan Hoge in spring ball and Alex Bars seems like a natural fit at right tackle. This only brings up one position battle on the o-line and thats at right guard.

Will it be Colin McGovern or will it be Hunter Bivin? They both lack in game experience, but at the same time they’ve been part of the program for three seasons now. They aren’t spring chickens, so whoever Brian Kelly decides to plug in there I think they will be a reliable piece to the line. The nice thing about both these players is that they are both versatile. The runners-up of the right guard battle will also provide depth at other areas of the line. Bivin did emerge as the leader towards the end of spring practice. If I had to put a gun to my head I would probably say Bivin will be the starter when kickoff rolls around on September 4th, but I truly see this as a toss up.
