Notre Dame Ranked 17th on FanSided’s Fandom 250

Well, Fighting Irish fans, congratulations. The Notre Dame fanbase has been ranked 17th on FanSided’s Fandom 250.

What is Fandom 250 you ask? You’ve heard of Fortune 500, ESPN 300, and American Top 40. Now, there’s FanSideds Fandom 250. FanSided and their 300 websites have always made on thing their top priority – the fans. So, instead of ranking the top players or teams, FanSided ranked the top 250 fans.

The list consists of the top 250 fanbases from sports, music, technology, movies, TV shows, and more. But as we all know, there’s no way to keep Notre Dame out of the mix, because there are no better fans in the world greater than Fighting Irish fans.

Out of 250 teams, brands, celebrities, and just about anything you can think of, Notre Dame’s fanbase ranks 17th. From freshman pushups to each and every one of us believing we’d lead the Irish to a National Championship, there’s no hiding that Notre Dame fans are a brand of their own.

Some teams have die-hards, some have the “no team is better than mine.” Notre Dame has everything. There are people out there who truly bleed gold and green that could recite “Win one for the Gipper,” who know every player from every team and their high school, and then there are the beefcakes. Every team has them, and so does Notre Dame. These are the fans who scream and yell and let the whole world know that there’s no team better than Notre Dame.

There’s one thing for certain, though. Notre Dame wouldn’t be where they are right now without each and every one of them.

It’s no surprise that Notre Dame cracked the top 250 fandoms in the world. Breaking the top 50 was still no surprise. At 17, all Fighting Irish fans should feel proud. The Irish fans are the second-highest college team behind Ohio State at number eight. But besides the Buckeyes, every other school eats our dust.

The passion, pride, and resilience of every Notre Dame fan has finally been acknowledged. Compared to some of our enemies, Michigan ranked 48th, USC ranks 170, and Stanford didn’t even make the list.

It’s clear that there are no better supporters out there than Notre Dame fans. With the rise of the basketball team, and the women looking more like National Champion year after year, the sports world better watch out. If they thought our love for Notre Dame football was bad, wait until they have to deal with us from until March.
