Houston Griffith is one of the best defensive backs in the country and he’s been targeted by Notre Dame for quite some time.

He plays his football at the #1 program in the country, IMG Academy, where Notre Dame has had success landing recruits – Robert Hainsey, Tony Jones jr. and Spencer Perry.

Strength and Conditioning staff member David Ballou was hired by Notre Dame and had been on staff at IMG for the last few years. Whether or not that will play a factor remains to be seen, but it couldn’t hurt.

IMG receivers coach Maurice Stovall played his ball at Notre Dame as well. Another iron if the fire for the Irish.

Griffith is a Chicago native as well, which is fairly local to Notre Dame, another reason for Griffith to consider giving his pledge to the Irish.

Notre Dame didn’t land a cornerback in the class of ’17 and has targeted many top players at the position in this cycle. They landed 4 star CB Kalon Gervin recently as well as one of the best player in Georgia, Derrick Allen who will likely play safety in South Bend.

They are certainly looking to add at least one more talented cornerback who can play right out of the gate and Griffith has that kind of talent.

Keep your eye on this one that looks to be a tight battle between Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan State among his 30 offers.
