Braden Lenzy is an intriguing prospect as he plays both cornerback and receiver at a top 200 level as well as having explosive playmaking ability.

Brian Kelly made it known in a Jan. 30 press conference that he is looking for electric speed at the skill positions and Lenzy has just that (4.47 sec. 40).

The Portland product visited campus for the recent Junior Day where he got to spend time with the coaching staff and tour the facilities as well as be present for the men’s basketball win over Florida State.

I spoke with Lenzy and the trip couldn’t have been better for him and he stated that Notre Dame is now on the top of his list. He bonded with Illinois wider receiver and Irish recruit Micah Jones during his visit and is in close contact with running back commit, Markese Stepp.

Lenzy will be visiting Oregon and USC before he cuts down his list which includes 12 offers, something you can expect to see grow in a major way.

Notre Dame is recruiting Lenzy as a receiver and kick returner. He’s excited about that but mentioned he could end up playing on the other side of the ball if he were to commit. That is OK with him as he’s interested in doing what’s best for him and his family.

Special Team’s coach and successful west coast recruiter Brian Polian made a big impact on Lenzy and his Father. He will be in close contact and pushing hard for his commitment.

I feel very good about Notre Dame’s chances with Lenzy. Keep an eye on how he responds to his visit to USC this weekend. USC offered him this week. Given that he’s from the west, they could play a factor.
