Blocks – 111 (72nd in the NCAA)

The post may not be Notre Dame’s strong suit, but with Bonzie Colson anything is possible. 72 isn’t the highest of standings, but for a team playing with one big man, it’s a stat to be proud of. The Irish haven’t given up in the paint and it’s all thanks to Colson. Playing with as much heart and determination as anyone on the court, Colson has become one of the best players in the NCAA.

It isn’t just his double-double stat line that makes him so dominate. All season he has squared off with some of the best forwards and centers in college basketball and has come out on top. Both offensively and defensively, Colson has proven to shut down anyone in his way.

Averaging four blocks a game, the Irish have remained a threat in the paint defensively. Continuing to force teams to adjust to their lineup on the offensive end will force them to change the set of players in their own offense. Once they start to change things up, Colson usually has no trouble shutting down whatever big man he’s guarding.
