The first player that came to mind when I watched this truly impressive film, loaded with eye-popping plays, was Percy Harvin.

Jaquayln Crawford is a flat-out play-maker with elite athleticism. A supreme offensive weapon who has the uncanny ability to find seams and accelerate through them so quickly that he’s a threat to score every time he gets the ball in any kind of space.

When lanes close up, he shows unreal vision, balance and agility to apply jump cuts or quick-twitch moves to keep the ball moving. He makes a lot of defenders miss and is a true offensive weapon.

Some of what he does on the football field also reminds me of California receiver Amon Ra St. Brown, another Notre Dame target. He doesn’t have the strength or size of St. Brown, but he’s just as electric and due to his slight size, is a little bit shiftier.

Although he lines up at both a receiver and running back, I believe his talent best suits the receiver position. He would also be a great candidate to carry the ball on jet sweeps, similar to how they used C.J. Procise.

Crawford runs precise routes and shows sudden acceleration. What is so exciting about his pass catching game is his ability to jump and make acrobatic catches. It’s really something to see. At 5’10, he’s able to high point balls over defenders extremely well.

All of Crawford’s skills translate to his kick return game in a big way. I’m certain he will be an effective returner at the college level early in his career.

Clearly, I’m very impressed with the Rockdale, Texas product. Notre Dame seems to be too, by giving him a scholarship offer while having so many other talented receivers on their board.

Staff will work to get him on campus and eventually secure a commitment.

The recruiting department is making a strong attempt to acquire elite speed and athleticism that Brian Kelly craves for his offensive backfield in this class.
