Former Notre Dame football star, Will Fuller, had a standout rookie season. But with a new quarterback, this speedy wide out would thrive in 2017.

Fuller played in 14 regular season games during his rookie campaign. Of which, he put up 635 yards and two touchdowns. But it wasn’t nearly his full potential. With a reliable quarterback that played his style of game, Fuller could’ve been just as explosive as he was in college.

NFL Draft: Is Jarron Jones headed to the Ravens?

When you finish an NFL season with more interceptions than touchdowns, you aren’t going to thrive as a wide receiver. That’s exactly what happened in Houston. Brock Osweiler was the biggest mistake of the 2016 season. Spending $72 million on a bust player is rough, but when your team is primed for a playoff run and your most valuable player doesn’t work out it’s worse.

Fuller’s a future star. He showed everything you want from a rookie and more. Before a hamstring injury that lingered all season, Fuller was one of the hottest rookies to start the season. His 323 yards and two touchdowns through three games led Houston. After that, though, both he and the Texans’ offense seemed to shut down through the air.

Osweiler isn’t the answer in Houston. The team, fans, and coaches know that, which means the play caller will likely be sitting behind a new quarterback next season. If he isn’t, then chances are he’s on a new team.

No one can be certain if a new quarterback would be any better than Osweiler. Oh, wait, yes they do. Tony Romo, Jimmy Garoppolo, and maybe even Tyrod Taylor are all the hottest quarterbacks on the market. Although none of certain to be on the move, the rumor mill is spreading fast and they all remain at the top. For a team ready for the playoffs and in need of a quarterback, these three are perfect matches for the Texans.

All three of these players have arms and confidence that Fuller needs in a quarterback. He’s a deep threat, and there’s nothing more Romo and Taylor like to do than throw the long ball. Garoppolo may not be proven yet, but he did show he has a lot of potential.

A trade is needed in Houston. A new quarterback would make this team an instant contender. And for Will Fuller, it would make him one of the most dangerous threats in the league. Whether it’s Romo, Taylor, or Garoppolo, Fuller would be utilized twice as much as he was in 2016.

The Texans, Fuller, and their new quarterback would thrive from a trade. Houston needs to make it happen. They’re one step away from a playoff run. That step is a quarterback. Not a Brock Osweiler, but a Romo, Taylor, or Garoppolo.
