On Tuesday, Notre Dame extended a scholarship to Eleanor Roosevelt wide receiver Chase Williams.

Williams had a very productive season in the competitive California level of ball he plays in.

He snagged 42 balls for 1,007 yards for 19 touchdowns while contributing 37 tackles, an interception and a safety on defense.

Notre Dame likes two-way players and the intangibles they gain by playing on both sides of the ball. If you watched Julian Love in ’16, you could see the unique skill set that a skill position player acquires through playing both ways.

Williams in a long, fast, well-rounded receiver who can run all the routes. He’s very smooth out of his breaks and proves to be a very polished and precise route runner. He shows great athleticism as a receiver and a safety at his high school program.

Williams has a nice frame that could compensate for more useful weight gain. He’s a long strider who eats up a lot of field in short order, helping him get down field on vertical routes quickly.

I really like Chase Williams’ film and evidently, Notre Dame does as well. Keep your eyes open for a visit. DelVaughn Alexander has had much success with talented Californian wide receivers in the past and Brian Polian will assist in his recruitment.
