Notre Dame basketball class of 2017 took home their final victory in South Bend and we have all the sights and sounds from their memorable night.

It may not have started off as well as the Irish hoped, but this game finished the way most believed it would. Claimed the 82-66 victory, the Notre Dame seniors celebrated their final game in Purcell Pavilion. Now, this team looks to the future as they prepare for the ACC and NCAA Tournaments.

We can’t forget about the class’ final night at Notre Dame, though. Check out all the action the Irish and their upperclassmen brought us during their final 40 minutes at home.

The crowd went wild early as Temple Gibbs came up with the insane steal. Tossing it to V.J. Beachem, the senior threw down an emphatic jam to get the Irish rolling early.

Notre Dame’s defense has been scrappy all season. This time around, some solid rim protection turns into a lose ball steal. From there, the Irish turn transition offense into a wide-open three for Rex Pflueger and he takes advantage.

He may be 6’5, but Bonzie Colson plays like a giant. This time, the offensive rebound thanks to his 7’2 wingspan allows him to secure the ball and go up hard for a second chance bucket. Like he’s done all season, Colson led the Irish in every aspect of this game.

He may have lost minutes in the rotation, but Martinas Geben proved himself in this matchup. After a solid pass to Matt Farrell off the backdoor, he throws down a vicious slam from the rebound. His facial expression at the end tells you how pumped he was to jam this one in.

There was plenty of exciting moments in this game, but none as thrilling as watching Patrick Mazza throw down his first points of the season. He’s never been a big part of this team through his four years at Notre Dame, but this senior has made his mark on this roster. Senior Night is special to all the seniors, but to watch this kid get a chance to shine, even if it was only for a second, was the highlight of the night.

As they head into March, the Irish hope to keep the momentum they built through this memorable night in South Bend.
