Tommy Bush continues to be one of the hottest recruits in the country.

Tommy Bush had a huge showing at The Opening Regionals in Houston on Feb. 4 where he clocked in at 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash along with other impressive times and measurables.

I spoke with him shortly after. He had around 20 scholarship offers at that time which was less that a month ago.

Since then, he has blown. He went from being a reasonably known recruit, to a nationally talked about name with 34 offers including Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame and most solid Power 5 programs.

“I receive upwards to 2 to 3 calls or texts, and reporter messages as well, for interviews at least once a night,” Tommy Bush told me when I asked him how much attention he’s receiving.

I asked him which schools were recruiting him the hardest. He had a pretty big list and the Irish were on it.

“I would have to say Michigan State, Notre Dame, Baylor, Alabama, Colorado State, Oregon and LSU.”

So far, Tommy Bush is enjoying his contact with Notre Dame staff. He explained.

“The contact between Notre Dame and I is always a great talk. They’re always asking how track is going, possible visits and what Notre Dame offers academic-wise. Coach Kearney and a host of other coaches contact me once every two days or so.”

I asked Bush if he has plans to visit Notre Dame. Here’s what he told me.

"“Absolutely. They want me on campus A.S.A.P. but like my pops says, there’s no money tree out back, we can’t just shake it and roll!”"

“I am definitely working with my parents budget and time off work to plan a chance to meet the Notre Dame staff. I love the support when they speak to me. I want to look into their eyes and actually hear it from them in person.”

“This summer will be a great time frame due to the fact that I will be finished with track and 7 on 7 will not have started.”

Tommy Bush is very impressed with Notre Dame’s class and the fact that he has a chance to be part of something so elite.

“It’s a nice class. Dudes are sure ballers. I don’t know that I belong with such a high class of football players.”

I asked him if he has a top group at this time. Here’s what he said.

” (There’s) no leaders, just feeling out school’s coaches, who’s actually figuring me out or just recruiting me.”

Tommy Bush told me about his priorities as it relates to post-high school opportunities.

“Football is second. School is first. I can go to school off of my father’s G.I. bill but god has blessed me with this opportunity so I don’t want to blow it.”

He then spoke to me about which schools stick out to him in terms of the way in which they interact with him.

“Teams that stick out are one’s where head coaches are calling and offensive coordinators are asking me offensive questions, etc.”

He finished by telling me his upcoming visit plans.

“LSU and several other unofficial visits. One is Texas A&M, and Baylor, TCU. I have a Junior Day invite to LSU by the summer. After that, we will be heading out the Florida way to see the schools possible.”

Many more schools will be offering Tommy Bush in the future and he will remain a top priority for plenty of programs, including Notre Dame.
