Notre Dame sent three players to the 2017 NFL Combine. With their combine results in, they know focus their attention to the 2017 NFL Draft and their future at the next level.

DeShone Kizer

  • 30.5 inch vertical
  • 107 inch broad jump
  • 4.53 shuttle run
  • 7.40 three cone drill
  • 4.83 40-yard dash

DeShone Kizer didn’t have the most impressive numbers in the NFL Combine. As a projected first or second round draft pick, scouts were hoping to see Kizer put on a show. But when all eyes were on the former Notre Dame quarterback, he failed to put on the show many were hoping for.

Where Kizer did shine was during throwing drills. With his strong arm and extreme accuracy, many people thought Kizer was the most effective passer during the throwing portion of the combine. For scouts who follow Tom Brady’s combine results, they were more focused on how well quarterbacks did with the ball in their hands than without it.

Everyone knows of Kizer’s insane arm strength. But when it was put on display, the gun slinger proved once again that he can launch the ball as far as anyone at his position. With room for improvement shown during his speed and versatility drills, Kizer made it a point to show he makes up for his poor results with his ability to throw the ball.

NFL Draft Prediction:

Kizer showed he has the arm of a first-round pick, but his inability to impress during his drills will hurt his draft stock. The San Francisco 49ers said he was outstanding in his interview with them, which could go a long way in this draft. Seeing Kizer go second overall is unlikely, but it could leave the door open for later teams. Don’t be surprised if he ends up being a surprise pick by the Cleveland Browns or Chicago Bears.

Projection: Cleveland Browns with the 12th overall pick.
