In their first postseason game of the year, Notre Dame takes on the Cavaliers in a redemption match. Losing the first regular season meeting against Virginia was the start of two new beginnings. For Notre Dame, they went on a four-game losing streak before discovering a small ball lineup is going to take them places.

Averaging 88 points since inputting Rex Pflueger into the starting five. With their new explosive offense, Notre Dame is one of the best shooting teams in the ACC. Playing a complete opposite style of game than Virginia, this one will come down to which team performs their craft better.

These two teams have never played each other in the postseason. Only playing three times in the last three years, both come into this game as unfamiliar foes with a lot to prove. Getting to the semifinals in the ACC Tournament would go a long way towards these teams’ confidence.

On top of that, the winner of this matchup could be looking at a climb in the NCAA Tournament seeding. Both of these are looking at a seed around sixth in any region. With a win to add to their resume, either of these two can be looking to land somewhere near a four seed. This is only the quarterfinals, but it has just as much meaning as any game this season.

Notre Dame should pull this one off. They have the offensive firepower to outscore Virginia. Even if the Cavaliers are the best defensive team in the country, they will need to hold the Irish to an almost impossibly low standard to match their offensive effort.
