Braden Lenzy is excited to get back up to Notre Dame and also had some insight on his fellow Oregonians who hold Irish offers.

Notre Dame received Braden Lenzy’s commitment on February 22, 2016, shortly after his first visit to South Bend for the first junior day event of the year for the Irish.

I caught up with Lenzy and he talked about his upcoming visit for the Blue and Gold Game as well as his fellow Oregon athletes; Chase Cota and Eli’jah Winston, who both hold Notre Dame offers.

“It’s going to be good to get back over there and be around the coaches more and be around the current players and obviously the commits and get a feel for the gameday lifestyle at Notre Dame,” explained Lenzy.

“I heard it’s sold out, but I’m not really sure. Either way, I want to see myself there and get a better picture of what it’ll be like when I play,” added Lenzy.

Lenzy spoke about Notre Dame’s recent wide receiver offer, an athlete that Lenzy is very familiar with. “Chase Cota, I know him, I definitely think we have a shot with him. Of all the Oregon athletes, I think ND has the best shot with him,” said Lenzy. “I’m really excited about that.”

Notre Dame offered defensive end – outside linebacker Eli’jah Winston of Portland, last month. Lenzy spoke about him as well.

“I think he’s one of the best linebackers in the country.  Anytime he goes to camps, he wins MVP for linebackers. He just has that dog mentality,” Lenzy boasted. “He’s just a great linebacker.

“I’m really excited about him. I think we have a shot. I’ve kind of told him about our situation and hoping he can get out there. He’s one of the guys I’m trying to help get out for an unofficial visit, and that type of situation,” Lenzy explained.

I asked Lenzy which other 2018 Notre Dame commits will be meeting him at the Blue and Gold Game. “I think everyone is going except Markese (Stepp) because he has the regional the next day in D.C.,” said Lenzy.

With the visitor list stacking up considerably, as well as the amount of committed players that will also be in attendance that weekend, the Irish coaching staff should have a very successful day on April 22.
